Our Chairpersons

Glenda Kickett: CO CHAIR

Glenda is a Whadjuk and Ballardong Nyungah woman and is connected to many Nyungah families across Nyungah country. She is the Manager of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships and Engagement and Therapeutic Services at the Australian Childhood Foundation, and has over 20 years of experience as a social worker managing programs in out-of-home care and support services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and families. Glenda has been part of SRWA since founding, and has been Co-Chair since 2015. She is also a Senior Lecturer at UWA completing her PhD, Chair of NAIDOC Perth, a Danjoo Koorliny leader, member of the Noongar Family Safety and Wellbeing Council, and board member for Glass Jars, Shooting Stars Australia, Wungening, Netball WA and Equus Bonding.

Sophie stewart: Principal Manager

Sophie was born and raised in Boorloo/Perth on Noongar Country. Her first experiences of the disparities in our justice system were the lives of people she met at the homeless shelter her parents ran in Vic Park. She has over a decade experience in non-profits, advocacy, policy and law reform, youth development and was the first person employed by the SRWA Chairs in 2016. Since that time she has lead our successful campaign to end imprisonment for unpaid fines, supported the community of Halls Creek in launching Olabud Doogethu - the state’s first justice reinvestment site, coordinated sector responses during COVID, executive produced Stories from the Inside, and grown the coalition to 30 NFP members and 6 staff. Sophie has a BA (Hons) in Political Science and International Relations from UWA, is the founder of Swim for Refugees, Board Member for WA Justice Association, a TedX Youth Presenter, and was the 2021 WA Young Leader, and WA Young Achiever of the Year.

Mason Rothwell: Strategic COmmunications and Policy Lead

Mason grew up on Noongar Boodja in the Rockingham area, and has almost ten years experience in social policy roles tackling system-wide issues and strategic reforms. With a background in mental health and psychology, his experience has spanned suicide prevention, youth policy, community impact, and public sector reform where he contributed to the development of a number of major social policy reforms, including the WA Suicide Prevention Strategy 2020, YACWA’s COVID-19 Youth Recovery Framework, and co-founding the Youth Pride Network of WA. Mason brings experience from both the non-profit and government sectors, having previously worked for the Youth Affairs Council of WA, the Mental Health Commission, Lotterywest, and the Victorian Department of Premier and Cabinet. In this role, Mason leads SRWA’s policy and public communications work, seeking to find collaborative solutions and partnerships between the non-profit and public sectors.

Michael Ogilvie: Engagement Lead

Michael is a Whadjuk Baladong and Yamitji man who has lived the past 17 years in Halls Creek. He has now returned to the Whadjuk Boodja in 2023 to join Social Reinvestment WA. He was the chairperson of the justice reinvestment site Olabud Doogethu in Halls Creek and has a passion to help young people, help families, help reform the justice system, and be a part of building better community resources. Michael has worked with Garnduwa across the Kimberley in the sport and recreation area for a number of years. As a keen football fan, he has umpired over 700 games of Kimberley football starting in 1998. Through his travels, Michael has gained a great deal of experience in community networking, having established job connections and friendships throughout the Kimberley, Southwest, and Midwest regions. Michael has completed studies at TAFE in Community Development, Employment Services and Career Development. Additionally, he has studied towards a Bachelors of Education at Edith Cowan University.

HANNAH WOODWARD: JUSTICE REINVESTMENT DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

Born and based on Whadjuk Noongar Boodja throughout her life, Hannah has over 8 years of experience providing technical support to justice reinvestment and place-based collective impact initiatives. At SRWA, Hannah works alongside local communities to tackle wicked social problems through collaborative community development and early intervention, while supporting the research, policy development and advocacy needed to enable these approaches at a systems level. Hannah is a Behavioural Scientist with a background in Social Justice and Education, and brings experience from professional roles with the Youth Partnership Project and 54 Reasons (Save the Children), and civil society roles with Girl Guides Australia, the Equality Rights Alliance and WAGGGS’ United Nations delegations.

Teri campbell: communications officer

Teri was born in South Africa and raised on Whadjuk Noongar Boodja. Her love of diverse storytelling and media led her to a Journalism degree at Curtin University, where her studies and passion took her interstate and across the globe. She joins SRWA after over a year at the ABC telling regional community stories from the WA Goldfields and Esperance regions. She’s looking forward to combining her love for multi-platform storytelling and social justice through meaningful communications in this role.


Ronald Bin Swani: Community Campaigner

Ronald is a Bard and Samsep man who grew up between Broome and Lombadina Community. He has a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Exercise & Health, and has acted as a mentor on multiple camps guiding young people towards different pathways in life, and showing them the ropes of university. He has developed his leadership skills over years of attending many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Youth and Adult leadership camps, being a part of National and University based student leadership body CareerTrackers and Western Australian Student Aboriginal Corporation (WASAC). Through Ronald’s life experiences he is looking to make a change for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Coming from a small community he wants to be able to find avenues to create safer and meaningful places for people. Ronald hopes that one day there we will be unity with the people of Australia, and that the voice of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders will finally be heard.

Rose Barton: Justice Reinvestment Development Officer

Rose was born and raised on Wadandi Boodja in the South West, and has spent the past few years living on Ngarluma Ngurra in the Pilbara. Rose is passionate about supporting locally-led, collaborative, human-centred and preventative action to address systemic inequity and injustice across rural and remote WA. She is an experienced project manager, having worked across social impact, community development and lived experience advocacy. She currently also works as the Pilbara Senior Policy Officer at WA Council of Social Service, and an award-winning professional artist. Rose holds a Bachelor of Design and is working towards postgraduate qualifications in Psychology and Sociology.

Jake Norris: Senior Resource Officer

Jake was born in Redbridge in the UK, and moved to Whadjuk country in the Rockingham area. He is a keen to serve the community in any way he can, ranging from volunteering at Swim for Refugees to mentoring young people in the Rockingham area. At SRWA, Jake works alongside the Justice Reinvestment and Campaigning teams to ensure any logistical, legal, governance, and administration issues are solved efficiently. Jake has a Bachelor of Biomedical Science in Pharmacology and a BA (Hons) in Law and Society from UWA.
